Memorial Day is a holiday to honor our fallen heroes and salute the ones that continue to fight for our country.
It’s also a holiday deemed of heavy drinking. Choose from the list of local breweries open and offering great specials this holiday weekend. As always, please drink responsibly!
JDub’s Brewing Company
On May 23rd, JDub’s is hosting the first “Soon to be Relatively Famous, Hopefully Annual Hotdog Eating Contest” in their beer garden!
Participants will be eating as many hot dogs and buns as possible within a 10-minute period. Winners will be granted $200 in cash, a $50 bar tab and their name on “FRANK” — their hot dog trophy — that will stay in the taproom for all to see in its glory. Second place will receive a $50 bar tab and third place will get a JDub’s t-shirt.
Sign up over the phone or in the tap room. Registration is $15 at the time of sign up and is non-refundable. Only 20 spots open for both men and women contests. The woman’s contest will start at 3 PM and the men’s contest will start at 4 PM. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in both contests.
Hot dogs will be supplied by our friends at Boar’s Head. Morgan’s Canteen & Cookery will be out front of the tap room supplying the crowd with tasty gyros and burgers. Dj Iche aka Buckroe Skillz spinning some tunes from 2-5 PM. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Big Top Brewing Company
On Sunday, Big Top is bringing back the waterslide! They’ll do the grilling — all you have to do is bring the sides.
Bring the whole family and come hang out for Memorial Sunday Funday from noon until 8 PM. Don’t forget your bathing suit!
Black Fox Meadery
Black Fox will be open all weekend and is officially releasing their new Summertime Mead Blooze. They’ll be offering a 64-oz growler for $30, including the growler. They are a veteran-owned business and are offering a free 64-oz growler bottle ($5 Value) to any and all veterans this Memorial Day.
Rapp Brewing Company
Rapp will be open on Memorial Day and will be offering $3 beers for all former and current military personnel.
St. Pete Brewing Company
St. Pete Brewing Company will be open all weekend long. The party kicks off on Sunday night with a jam sesh featuring Andrew Carmouche from 2:30 – 5:30 PM and The New Rulers from 7 – 10 PM.
On Monday, Memorial Day, they’ll be open from 12 – 8 PM. Be on the look out for growler fill specials all day long — $5.50 growler fills, and if no growler, it’ll be $8.50 for growler and fill. There will be also be hospitality specials for $3 pints and flights.
The Brew Bus – Tampa Bay
Hop on The Brew Bus this weekend for some great tours!
Two Henrys Brewing Company
Not only will Two Henrys be open, but they’re also releasing two new beers and will have live music on Monday from 2 – 6 PM. Enjoy their Peachin’ To The Choir, a German Hefeweizen, and The Golden Mule, a Kolsch (ale and lager). Military personnel will receive a 10% discount.
This Saturday, Sunday and Monday, LagerHaus is offering a 20% off pizza and wings from noon until 10 PM. Discount is for take out as well!
Six Ten Brewing
They are closed on Monday, but Six Ten has a full weekend planned! Tonight, The Twisted Iron will be serving up at the brewery from 5 – 9 PM. Tomorrow, AJ Dee and Joel Perez will be playing from 7 – 10:30 PM.
On Sunday, GREAT, Inc. Greyhound Rescue will be serving Brats and Spetzel with Denim Quiche. They’ll be supplying the music with raffles and prizes for a day of fun.
