Local Craft Beer Pairings for Your Thanksgiving Feast

Ah, Thanksgiving. A time for family and friends, football and oh of course, a feast. And no feast is complete without a refreshing drink to wash it all down. Wine, cocktails, and cider are traditional accompaniments to turkey with all the trimmings, but craft beer has started showing up on the menu. And we’re thankful for that, because we love craft beer and have so many awesome options in our area. Here are 6 local choices that are perfect for your Turkey Day celebrations.

Barley Mow American Golden Ale

Amber ale is perfect for a large dinner party. It’s balanced flavor will never overpower the flavors in your meal, and it’s sure to please almost everyone at the table. This beer is so good, you may even convert that Bud-swilling uncle of yours to switch to local craft beer!

St. Pete Brewing Co. Oktoberfest

What could be more appropriate for the ultimate fall feast than the ultimate fall beer style? Oktoberfest beers are a little darker than amber ales, have a full bodied, malty flavor and a nice dash of spice at the finish. A lot of local breweries make an Oktoberfest. Grab a growler of your favorite for your Thanksgiving dinner.

Saint Somewhere Pays du Soleil

In this sour siren’s opinion, you can never go wrong with a saison, especially one from St Somewhere. This saison has a strong Dubbel base that’s perfect for Thanksgiving, and has a flavor packed with fall flavors like dates, figs, and spice.

Funky Buddha Sweet Potato Casserole

Technically beyond the scope of Brewery Bay, but if you can find it, do yourself a favor and try this strong ale. It’s sweet, it’s full of spicy flavor, and it disappears faster than your Mama’s candied yams.

Barley Mow Tinsel Holiday Spiced Ale

Take the easy-drinking quality of an amber ale, then infuse holiday flavors of caramel, toffee, spices and honey, and you have the perfect beer to drink between dinner and dessert.

Cigar City Cider

Your non-beer-drinking friends and family members can still #DrinkLocal at your table. Cigar City Cider & Mead has traditional hard cider options, as well as fun and festive flavors like Homemade Apple Pie, Cranberry Cinnamon, and a melomel (mead with fruit) called Currency, which features red and black currants and orange blossom.

However you choose to celebrate, the entire Brewery Bay Team would like to wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday. We’re thankful for you, because you make this passion project of ours possible. Cheers!
